What you'll be getting up to:
The Payments Optimisation Manager will focus on improving payment success rates, reducing transaction declines, and optimising the overall payment flow. Optimal decision making will take into account many operational factors including Liability Management, Escalations, Vendor Relationships and Integration Quality.
The role involves making decisions on routing transactional traffic based on available data across various payment areas, including success rates, available processor capacity and liability, fees and chargeback rates, while addressing market fluctuations and operational challenges such as maintenance or technical issues. Additionally, the role requires reporting systemic or persistent issues to the business and payments functions, providing actionable insights and solutions for further improvement through the Product or Vendor Management teams.
This position will work closely with Payments, Fraud/Risk, Product Management, Customer Services, Operations and Engineering teams to support scalable and efficient payment operations.
The successful candidate will need to be comfortable with making decisions from sometimes imperfect data sets, and using their judgement during high-stress situations e.g. payments outages in busy traffic periods.
There may be the need to work unsociable hours in the role (evenings and weekends) depending on the sporting calendar and gaps in the monitoring team’s coverage (holidays, sickness, emergencies), although these may be limited to the occasional on-call escalation after the team is set up. This role would suit someone who would prefer to work flexible hours with high availability.

Leadership
Lead a small team of Monitoring Analysts and a Data Analyst, responsible for monitoring payments traffic and executing changes through during the sporting calendar of events.
Work with the Data Analyst to define KPIs and build dashboards to support traffic monitoring and decision making tasks.
Work with senior stakeholders in the business to maximise payments availability and the customer experience.
Coordinate across business functions to deliver projects that will improve Payments availability, drive conversion, and reduce/manage costs.
Data Analysis & Reporting
Develop dashboards and reports to monitor payment performance, chargeback rates, and fraud KPIs.
Use data insights to identify operational bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
Track and report on changes to PSPs, systems and processes to measure impact.
Provide regular reporting and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
Finance & Treasury
Work with Finance and Treasury to monitor financial KPI’s (settlement cycles, exposure, FX markups, reconciliation issues etc).
Create volume and traffic assignments and projections, to be used by the monitoring analysts as the first point of reference, and with finance to create budget and cost projections.
